You should always feel comfortable asking questions about an order, a piece you already own, or something you are thinking about buying. My aim is to keep everything fair, clear and human – from how your item is shipped to how you care for it years down the line.
On this page you will find a straightforward overview of shipping, packaging, returns, refunds and looking after your handmade wooden pieces. If anything is unclear, you are always welcome to get in touch.
All orders are carefully packed and dispatched from my workshop on the Isle of Bute, Scotland. Most in-stock items leave the workshop within 3–5 working days; if I expect any delay, I will let you know by email.
UK orders are usually sent via reliable tracked services. Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on the parcel size, weight and destination – I do not make a profit on postage. International shipping may be available on selected items; if your country is not shown at checkout, please contact me to discuss options.
Once your parcel is on its way you will receive a confirmation email, and, where available, tracking details so you can follow its journey.
Each piece is wrapped and cushioned so that it arrives safely, while keeping packaging as low-waste and recyclable as possible. Where I use plastic, it is only to protect the work in transit when there is no better alternative.
If you are buying a gift, I can usually add simple gift wrapping or a handwritten note with your message. Just add your request at checkout or send an email after placing your order, and I will confirm what is possible for your particular piece.
Prices on packing slips can be left out for gifts sent directly to the recipient – please let me know if you would like this.
I want you to be happy with your piece. If something is not quite right with a ready-made item bought through the shop, you can usually return it within 14 days of delivery, provided it is unused, in its original condition and carefully packaged for the journey back.
Please email me with your order details before sending anything back so I can confirm the return address and next steps. Once I receive and check the item, refunds are normally processed to your original payment method within 7 working days. Original shipping costs are non-refundable unless I have made an error or the item is faulty.
Because of their nature, personalised, engraved or fully bespoke commission pieces cannot normally be returned or refunded unless there is a clear fault. If there is any problem with a custom order, please contact me so we can find a fair solution.
Wood is a natural material and will reward a little gentle care. For bowls, boards and kitchen pieces, wash by hand in warm, soapy water and dry straight away – never soak them or put them in a dishwasher. Avoid leaving wooden items on or near direct heat sources such as hobs or radiators.
From time to time you can refresh the finish with a light coat of a suitable food-safe oil, following the instructions in the full care guide. This helps keep the grain nourished and the piece looking its best.
If you ever notice roughness or raised grain, a light rub with fine abrasive pad followed by oil is usually all that is needed.
Kitchen and tableware pieces that are intended for contact with food are finished with carefully chosen food-safe oils or finishes. These are selected to protect the wood while allowing it to breathe and to be refreshed over time.
Please use wooden items only for their intended purpose. Do not use them in ovens, microwaves, freezers or dishwashers, and avoid prolonged contact with standing water. Strongly coloured foods may gently tint pale woods over time – this is a normal part of their life and use.
If you ever have questions about the suitability of a particular piece for food contact or display, you are welcome to ask before or after you buy.
You can place orders for available pieces directly through the online shop. When you add items to your basket and complete checkout, you will receive an email confirming the details of your order.
Payment is handled securely through trusted third-party providers. Usual options include major debit and credit cards, and may also include selected digital wallets where available. I do not receive or store your full card details.
If you spot a mistake in your order or delivery address after checkout, please email me as soon as possible with your order number. If the parcel has not yet been dispatched, I will do my best to amend the details before it leaves the workshop.
Your personal details are used primarily so I can process your order, take payment, arrange delivery and keep in touch about any questions relating to your purchase. I aim to collect only the information that is genuinely needed and to look after it carefully.
Basic analytics and marketing tools may also be used to help understand how the website is being used and to share news about work, events and offers where you have chosen to hear from me.

If you cannot find the answer you need here, there are a couple of easy next steps. The Frequently Asked Questions page gathers together common queries about ordering, shipping, commissions and care.
You are also very welcome to get in touch directly if you would prefer a more personal response or need to discuss something specific about your order or a piece you already own.
